Apple’s latest iPhones rumored to be unveiled in September

The rumors have been running rampant since the weekend that Apple will be launching the latest version of its world-renowned iPhone at a special event scheduled for Sept. 10, according to numerous reports, including Reuters.

It is expected that Apple will be releasing two new iPhone models: the first is a ‘budget iPhone,” which is an attempt to make a presence in emerging markets – it could be named iPhone 5C, iPhone 6 or iPhone Light, but most industry professionals say it’ll be iPhone 5C because of a leaked photo that was released recently – while the second one will have a focus on security enhancements.

USA Today confirmed the initial report from All Things D, but an email from Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerris said, “We don’t comment on rumors.”

The plastic iPhone will be offered to individuals and households that are in lower tax brackets and cannot afford any new iPhone. Some of these destinations are China and India, two markets that Apple hasn’t made a significant dent in, while the Android has been making ground. It should be noted too that Apple CEO Tim Cook has made multiple visits to China in the past year.

“With a new iPhone and revamped iOS coming out later this year, Apple is well-positioned to recapture market share,” stated IDC analyst Ramon Llamas.

According to the London Telegraph, the iPhone 5S will feature a fingerprint scanner, a 12-megapixel camera, a dual LED flash and an improved display. However, the mobile device will not feature a larger screen, which has been the trend among other smartphone manufacturers.

“Some customers value large screen size, others value other factors such as resolution, colour quality, white balance, brightness, reflectivity, screen longevity, power consumption, portability, compatibility with apps and many things,” Cook said in a statement. “Our competitors had made some significant trade-offs in many of these areas in order to ship a larger display. We would not ship a larger display iPhone while these trade-offs exist.”

In addition, it is being reported by the UK Independent that the company will be offering various plastic casing covers – this has been offered by Google with its new Moto X mobile smartphone device.

Another major device that has been floating around for the past year is the Apple smart watch or a similar wearable technological item that would be a major product in the marketplace. The smart watch would be Bluetooth-enabled, feature a 1.5-inch screen and would be in synch with the iPhone to permit the user to make phone calls and complete other tasks with the wrist watch.

Despite whatever Apple does, the two new models would hit store shelves just in time for the busy holiday season. How much would it cost? Analysts are projecting that the iPhone 6 would be sold between $450 and $550 off-contract and be offered for $0 on a two-year contract in the United States. The iPhone 5S is expected to be listed $199 on a two-year contract – the iPhone 5 could drop to $99 on-contract and the iPhone 4S could very well dip to $0 on-contract.
